West Qurna 1 reports operations-centre progress and water and power plans

A field official reports phase one at 54% completion and preparatory work on water projects and a 200 MW power station.

West Qurna 1 is preparing water infrastructure and a 200 MW power station alongside construction of its operations centre, a field official told the Iraqi News Agency on 9 October. These projects remain at study or award-preparation stages; no contractors, prices or bidding dates were disclosed.

Aras Mohammed Ali, deputy head of the field’s Major Projects Division, put first-phase operations-centre completion at 54%. That phase includes two buildings for approximately 560 people and a 400-seat cafeteria. He cited September 2027 as an expected completion date, without clearly distinguishing the phase from the full two-phase project.

The official also reported completion of a fifth small solar station, with a sixth at study and contract-award stage. The figures and timetable are the official’s account, not an independent construction assessment.
