Siemens AG announced contracts in July 2019 for thirteen 132/33-kV substations and 35 transformers under Phase 1 of its Iraq roadmap. The company said the work would address transmission and distribution bottlenecks in Basra.
The scope is a useful historical comparison with later Siemens Energy frameworks. It identifies grid equipment, distinct from a generating plant, and a specific contract stage. The company’s projected service benefits were expectations made at the time.
The announcement does not establish the current operating status of each substation, measured reliability gains, or the scope of the later Phase IV agreement.
