Khor Mor maintenance expected to reduce electricity supply through 2 November

The Kurdistan Region’s Electricity Ministry announced a month of maintenance-related reductions.

Electricity supply in the Kurdistan Region is expected to fall by several hours a day from 2 October to 2 November while Dana Gas maintains the Khor Mor field, The Insight International reported on 1 October, citing the regional Electricity Ministry.

The ministry did not specify the daily reduction. It said it would coordinate with the Ministry of Natural Resources to limit effects on the Runaki electricity programme.

A Sulaimani gas-distribution official told local media that stored supplies should prevent a household cooking-gas shortage. That assurance concerns cooking gas, separately from the expected reduction in electricity service.

Khor Mor is the connecting asset between the maintenance announcement and electricity availability. The distinction between gas supplied to generation and household cooking-gas stocks explains why assurances about one do not resolve the outlook for the other.
