Prime Minister Ali Al-Zaidi ordered economic support measures on 4 October covering housing, industry and overdue payments, Shafaq News reported, citing his office.
The measures redirect one trillion Iraqi dinars from existing Central Bank initiatives to housing and real estate. At least another trillion dinars in liquidity is intended for industrial financing through the Trade Bank of Iraq and Industrial Bank.
The Finance Ministry is to provide 500 billion dinars each for contractors and farmers. A separate 500 billion dinars would increase the Future Generations Fund Initiative’s balance to 1.5 trillion.
Shafaq noted that the farmer payment matches a September commitment; whether it is an additional tranche remains unclear. The package combines different financing channels and should not be read as an equivalent amount of fresh budget spending or completed disbursement.
The two banks have distinct institutional backgrounds. TBI provides commercial and trade-finance services, while the Finance Ministry describes Industrial Bank’s role in financing industrial assets and supporting private and mixed-sector enterprises.
The relevant next evidence is the implementing banks’ facility terms and documented payments to recipients. The announcement alone does not establish when an individual borrower or creditor will receive funds.
