September customs receipts reached approximately IQD 442.3 billion, compared with IQD 334.2 billion a year earlier, according to figures released by Iraq’s General Customs Authority. The reported increase was IQD 108.1 billion, or 32.3%.
The authority attributed the increase to better collection and customs performance. These are nominal revenue figures: the release does not separate the contributions of import values, trade volumes, tariff composition and collection changes. The increase therefore measures additional fiscal receipts, rather than establishing a corresponding expansion in physical imports.
