Duhok’s agriculture director, Ahmad Jamil, reported grape production of 80,000 tonnes this year, compared with 60,000 last year, and honey output of 300 tonnes, up from 100 tonnes, Kurdistan24 reported on 3 October.
The figures were announced as the governorate’s nineteenth grape and honey festival opened. The three-day event, running from 3 to 5 October, brought together 80 farmers at 80 stalls and provided a venue for direct sales.
Jamil attributed the larger harvests to rainfall and a longer spring. The production totals and explanation are the directorate’s account; festival activity alone does not independently verify governorate-wide output.
