Al-Salam and ZTE sign technology-cooperation memorandum

The agreement announced at ITEX covers technology transfer, equipment assembly and engineering training.

Iraq’s Al-Salam General Company, part of the Ministry of Communications, signed a memorandum of understanding with China’s ZTE at the close of the ITEX exhibition in Baghdad, NEWS.IQ reported on 4 October.

The proposed cooperation covers technology transfer, local equipment assembly and training for Iraqi engineers. These areas connect telecommunications supply with local technical capabilities.

The report describes a memorandum setting out cooperation aims. It does not establish a financed manufacturing plant, an operating assembly line or a delivery schedule. Those implementation details will determine the scale of any resulting local production.
